Tibetische Gruppe in Indien kämpft gegen China und Menschenrechtsverletzungen in der Heimat | Nachrichten aus Indien
Dozens of Tibetans living in India protested outside China’s embassy on Tuesday against the human rights situation in their homeland, which China annexed in 1951. The protest, organized by the Tibetan Youth Congress, aimed to draw attention to China’s repression of Tibetan culture. The protesters demanded an end to the cultural genocide in Tibet and called on the international community to support their cause.
Police intervened to block the protesters from entering the embassy, leading to some detentions and physical confrontations. This demonstration coincided with China’s 75th year of Communist Party rule, highlighting the ongoing tensions between Tibetans and the Chinese government.
The Tibetan government-in-exile in India has accused China of violating fundamental human rights in Tibet and erasing Tibetan identity. With over 85,000 Tibetan refugees living in India, the Dalai Lama has established his headquarters in Dharamshala, northern India, since fleeing Tibet in 1959 after a failed uprising against Chinese rule.
Despite China’s claims that the Dalai Lama is a separatist, he maintains that he only seeks substantial autonomy and protection for Tibet’s native Buddhist culture. The Tibetan community in India continues to advocate for their rights and cultural preservation in the face of Chinese oppression.
